Stephen King on Consistency Love what you do.

Well-known author Stephen King believes that the key to productivity is consistency. King, who has published 49 novels that have sold over 350 million copies, writes at least ten pages every day. In his autobiography On Writing, King advises aspiring writers to find their voice and purpose for what they’re doing.

“I’ve written because it fulfilled me. Maybe it paid off the the mortgage on the house and got the kids through college, but those things were on the side – I did it for the buzz. I did it for the pure joy of the thing. And if you can do it for joy, you can do it forever.”

Although you may do the same task every day, as part of a work or school routine for instance, it’s important to never lose sight of why you chose to do it to begin with. If you’re fed up of school and going to class everyday, think about your dream job and what you need to do to get there. These years of schooling may be an essential stepping stone to reach that goal.

So find that purpose to your habit, and let your passion and ambition drive you to find ultimate joy in doing it.
